(local regeneration agency, London)
Shoreditch Trust was established in 2000 under the New Deal for Communities initiative as a local regeneration agency with a focus on community and culturally-led projects. Pony works closely with the Trust, and has developed a strong visual identity and language that has directly emerged from the huge variety of local projects undertaken. Most recently, together with the Olympic Delivery Authority, University of the Arts London, Contemporary Art Society and schools from five Olympic boroughs, we produced a special issue of Shoreditch Star that explores public art and design.
As part of Shoreditch Trust’s visual strategy, we developed a graphic pigeon to represent local communities. This device is now used across the board on many Shoreditch Trust projects, including their corporate identity.
Shoreditch Trust’s Shoreditch Festival won the Bridging Cultures Award (2008) and the Regeneration and Renewal Award (2009). On both occasions it was recognised how the design work, including the pigeons, played a fundamental role in its success.
