Established in 2007, Jennifer Jennings & Phillip McMahon’s Thisispopbaby is a theatre and events production company that rips up the space between popular culture, counter culture, queer culture and high art — providing both a vehicle for their associate artists’ dreams and an electrifying access point to the arts. If, as once declared, “Art isn’t a mirror, it’s a fucking hammer”, then Thisispopbaby’s hammer is electro-smooth and jewel-encrusted. As you lie there, post-coitally bludgeoned and bleeding, you do so raptured in the knowledge that some of those jewels have embedded themselves on your face, and are catching the first warm rays of early dawn-light.
