Eight consecutive years and festivals. Over the course of a weekend, of a week, of two weeks — Eamonn Doyle’s maverick festival took over Dublin city in an electronic storm. From the start, DEAF moved beyond its roots in club culture, promoting a genuine inclusiveness in showcasing electronic arts to new audiences in Ireland with its focus on new music technologies and the experimental — along the way introducing and re-introducing old and new crowds to everything from Moog to Coil to Sunken Foal, and so much more. Unlike anything else, there will never be the same.
